General Appearance.   Medium size dog of Spitz type,    with a wide variation of colours.  Balanced,    well constructed,   slightly longer then high.

 

Characteristics   Devoted Family Companion.

 

Temperament,   Self assured,  calm,  and of even Temperament,  Bonds Strongly with its family, Reserved with stranger without any signs of aggression.

 

Head and Skull.   Wedge shaped viewed from above and in profile.  Flat Skull of Moderate width. Distinct frontal furrow and well defined occiput,   barely defined stop. Parallel planes to foreface and skull which are approximately equal in length, Cheeks barely pronounced,   Tapering muzzle neither to course nor too pointed, Black medium sized nose.

 

Eyes,   Dark,   Oval, slightly slanted and of medium size, neither deep set nor protruding, Close fitting, black pigmented rims.

 

Ears,   Medium size, triangular with slightly rounded tips, Carried pricked, Set apart about the width of the base of an ear.  Tips of ears and stop form an equilateral triangle.

 

 Mouth,   Lips close fitting with black pigmentation, Strong broad lower jaw, Perfect regular and complete scissor or level bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping or meeting the lower teeth and Set Square to the jaw.

 

Neck,   Well set on, well muscled and of medium length, without any throatiness.

 

Forequarters,   Well muscled, Medium boned, Legs straight and parallel when viewed from the front, Shoulders slightly sloping,   moderate angulations.  Upper arm of approximately equal length to forearm.  Elbows held close to the chest, Pasterns strong and slightly sloping.

 

Body,   Length of body from point of shoulder to point of buttock greater than height at the well defined withers,   Back  firm and straight with good length and width of loin,   Croup broad, level and strong, Oval shaped ribcage, reaching to elbows.  Forechest well developed without exaggeration.  Sternum extending well back, Slight tuck up.

 

Hindquarters,  Legs straight and parallel when see from behind,  Strongly muscled upper and lower thighs of almost equal length,  Moderate turn of stifle,  Sound,  Strong hocks turning neither in nor out,  Rear Pasterns of good length, vertical when viewed from the side.

 

Feet,   Oval, Tight with moderately arched toes, Firm, well cushioned, black pigmented pads, with thick hair, between.  Strong dark pigmented nails.

 

Tail,   High Set, Round and firm, of good thickness, tapering towards the tip. Carried forward, curved, or curled over the back or to one side. When at rest and if hanging down, should reach the hocks.

 

Gait/Movement,   Moves with Strides of Moderate length, Straight coming and going.

 

Coat,   Harsh topcoat of Medium length, loosely lying, with a thick undercoat,

Fur shorter on muzzle, face, ears, and front legs, The tail and backs of legs well feathered with long hair, Coat on neck slightly longer than on body without forming a mane, Tight well pigmented skin.

 

Colour,   All colours and colour combinations are permitted, with the exception of white patches on body, pure whites, or liver.

 

Size,   Height at withers,  Dogs, 52-60cms (20 ½  -23 ½  ins)   bitches, 48-56cms (19-22 ins), Weight dogs, 23-32kg (51-70 ½ lb) bitches, 18-26kg (40-57lb ), Ideal height and weight, dogs 56cm (22ins) 26kg (57lb) bitches 52cm (20 ½ ins) 22kg (48 ½ lb)

 

Faults,   Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with the fault should be regarded should be in the exact proportion to its degree and effect upon the health and welfare of the dog,

 

Note,   Male animals should have two apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.

Utilization: Companion Dog

Classification F.C.I :  Group 5 : Spitz and Primative Types Section 5: Asiatic Spitz and related breeds. Without Working Trial.

General Apperance :  Balanced, well contructed medium sized dog of spitz type, with prick ears, and coming in varied colours. Length of coat should be a still to reveal the body proportions, with medium bone.

Important Proportions :  length of back slightly longer than height at withers.The ratio of length of cranial is almost equal.

Behaviour and Temperment :  Self assured,- calm,- even tempered with high resistance against provocation. -Watchful and alert without being noisy.-  Very strongly developed link to his family.-  Reserved towards strangers without being aggressive.-  No hunting instinct . - For the full development of these Qualities,- the Eurasier needs constant close domestic contact with his family- and understanding,- yet constant training. 

Head : General :- Balanced,- not too broad skull,- Shape of head seen from above and sideways, should be wedge shaped,- Bridge of nose and cranial region run parallel.

Cranial Region : - Shape of Skull,- Flat forhead with distinct frontal furrow,- Well defined occiput,- Stop ;- Barely defined.

Facial Region ;- Nose :- Medium size,- noseleather with black pigmentation.

Muzzle :- Neither too coarse nor too pointed,- Tapering towards the noseleather,- Straight bridge of nose and ramus mandible.

Lips :- Edges of lips tight with black pigmentation.

Jaws :- Strong,- broad arch to lower jaw.

Cheeks :- Barely pronounced.

Teeth :- Strong,- complete set of 42 teeth conforming to the usual formation,- Bite either scissor or even,- Upper incisors either fit closely over lower incisors or meet,- Premolars and molars set in one line without gaps,- All teeth must be in a vertical position to the jaw.

Eyes :- Dark,- Medium size,- not too deep set nor protruding,- Orbital aperture slightly slanting,- Eye-rims with black pigmentation and tight fitting.

Ears :- Set apart by about the width of the base of an ear.- Medium size and trangular.- Prick ears with tips slightly rounded,-  Tips of ears and center of stop should forn a nearly equilateral triangle.

Body :- General :- Strong,- not too short in back.

Withers :- Pronounced.

Back:- Firm and straight,- Very well muscled.

LOIN:- Of good length and width,- well muscled

Rump :- Straight,- broad and strong.

Tail :- Straight set on,- round and firm,- of good thickness,- tapering towards the tip,- Bushy hair,- Carried lying forwards over the back, or bent slightly sideways, or rolled up. - When at rest and hanging down the tail should reach the hocks.

Chest :- Reaching to the elbows with oval shaped ribcage.- Forechest well developed without being pronouced.-Sternum long,- reaching far back.

Lower Line :- Slight tuck up.

Limbs :- Forequarters :- General :- Seen from front,- straight and parallel in position,- Seen from side,- moderately angulated,- Upper and lower arm of almost equal length.

Shoulders :- Well muscled,- laying slightly slanted.

Upper Arm :- Medium length ,- well muscled.

Elbows :- Close to chest.

Lower Arm :- Medium length ,- well muscled.

Pastern-joints :- Strong.

Pastern :- Medium length,- quite straight seen from front ,- seen from side,- inclined slightly forward.

Fore-feet :- Oval,- tight,- moderately arched,- Strong nails with dark pigmentation,- Firm,- well cushioned,- black pigmented pads,- Thick hair between pads.

Hindquarters :- General :- Seen from behind ,- straight and parallel,- Seen from the side with moderate angulation,- Upper and lower thigh of almost equal length.

Pelvis :- Slightly slanting.

Upper thigh :- Medium length, with strong muscle.

Stifle :- Stable,- not too straight.

Lower Thigh :-  Medium length,- well muscled.

Hock Joint :- Not set to low,- stable,- neither turning in or out.

Hock (Metatarsus) :- Good length and breadth,- vertical when seen from the side.

Hind Feet :- Oval,- tight,- moderately arched,- Strong nails with dark pigmentation,- firm,- well cushioned pads,- Thick hair between pads.

Gait :- Ground covering with plenty of drive and good forward stride.

Skin :- Tight,- well pigmented.

Coat :- Make up of coat :- All over the body a thick undercoat and a medium length loosly lying,- Harsh top coat,- Short coat on the muzzle,- face ears and front legs,- Tail back of legs (feathers)and hind legs (breeches) covered in long hair,- Coat on neck slightly longer than on body , NOT forming a mane.

Colour :- all colours and colour combinations are permitted with the exception of pure white,- white patches or liver colour.

Height and Weight

Height at withers :- Dogs :-52-60cm  or  20 1/2 -23 1/2 inches

Bitches :- 48-56cm  or  19-22 inches

Weight  :- Dogs :- 23-32kg  or  48-66lbs

Bitches :- 18-26kg  or 40-55lbs

The balance of the proportions is most important but the ideals to aim for are medium height and weight.

DOGS :- 56cm  or 22 inches,- and 26kg  or 55lbs. (IDEALS)

BITCHES :- 52cm  or  20 1/2 inches,- and 22kg  or 47lbs (IDEALS)

FAULTS :- Any departure from the foregoing points should be concidered as a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded be in the exact proportion to its degree.

Disqualifying Faults :-

- Nervousness,- shyness,- excessive supicousness,- aggresstion.

- Ears which flap or are pendulous ears.

- Distichiasis (eyelashes arranged in two rows),- ectropion,- entropion,- Eyes set too deep or are to small.

-Single or more incisors or canine tooth missing,- single or more premolars 3-4 missing,- or single or more molars 1-2.

-Anomalies in bite.

-Kinky Tail.

-Strong lack of pigment

-Lack of correct gender characteristics.

N.B :-  Male animals should hae two normal testicles fully desending into the scotum.
