KORE

MUSSENDUN PERSEPHONE AVEC FRIONARIZ

30-06-04 TO 31-01-09

This must have been one of the worst weeks in my life, Kore my wonderful black and tan baby died this morning in my arms.

Kore gave birth to her first litter of puppies on the 8th Dec 08 had a bit of trouble with the birth and so had to have a C-section, and 5 wonderful pups were born, the vet said he didn’t think they would survive as they still seemed a little premature and were small,   but they are Kore came home that day and from the moment we got in the house she wanted her babies, she was still very much doped up on drugs from the opp but knew she had a job to do and loved her babies right away.

Two days after the opp she was back to the vet for a check up and he said she was blooming motherhood is good for her, and he was right kore wouldn’t leave her babies and was always so happy.

Time went on puppies growing fast Kore the ever loving mummy still with her babies even though by now babies were happy to eat solid foods, and run, roll, and play together doing all that puppies should do, and Kore was there watching over them the very proud mum,

This was to be her downfall pups being pups were always up for a feed of mum, and if she tried to walk or lay down, pups were there, she never once in my ear shot told her babies enough is enough go get your own food your big babies now, so pup just kept hanging from her draining her of all her energy, and Kore allowing them to do so.

Kore was to go to the Vet for annual Boosters and the vet said she is losing a little weight maybe its time she was away from her babies (they were nearly 6 weeks old by now) so we took her away through the day and back at night for a couple of days....... pups didn’t miss her they just played and slept and ate. Normal puppies...  but Kore wasn’t happy, she wanted to be with them, all the time. So a stair gate was put between the two rooms where she could see them but they couldn’t  hang of her, she seemed happy for a day or so then she decided the sofa was a good bed ,  then it all went wrong. She stopped eating, and was drinking very little; she just seemed to give up. We took her over the vet and he put her on a drip over night and gave her vitamin boosters, and calcium as he said the pups have stripped every bit of goodness from her, and she has given up and starving herself to near death.  24 hours on a drip and the fact she had eaten a little she was allowed home, they said she would be happier there as she hated to leave me or for me to leave her.  Well when she came in her tail was wagging and she looked so much better, but still would not eat or drink i had to force special food down her throat, and give fluids by syringe.  She just got on the sofa and once again just gave up; we were across at our vet ever other day for a week with her having more vitamins pushed into her to try and get her to eat.

Last night i thought we had come through when Kore decided to eat, i didn’t need to force food down her she just ate two hours later she ate some more, her little daughter Eysha came through to us and i put her on the sofa with her mum and they played, it was so lovely to see this was the first time Kore had been able to love and play with one of her babies, after about 15 mins Eysha then was tired and wanted to go back to her bed,(well it was past 2 am)  and i settled down with kore on the sofa where we both fell asleep curled up together, This morning Kore was due to go back to the vet for another check i was so excited to tell him she had eaten and played with her pup through the night.................

Kore Climbed of the sofa walked across the floor and fell over i ran to pick her up but she took one last breath and died in my arms. It seemed that huge heart of hers just couldn’t be shared any more and just stopped.

Kore had many, many test done this last week, and everyone came back negative,  Kore WAS JUST A GOOD MUM, AND GAVE ALL TO HER BABIES the vet said it is rare that a dog will do this but its only the really good mums that love their babies and would die to ensure their pups survival, well My baby KORE must have been the best mum in the world, she has left us with some wonderful babies one of which was decided before they were born would stay with us,  Yes the puppy is Eysha  I just hope that in the few mins of play she got with her mummy, Kore past herself on to her, I know deep down i must never look for Kore in Eysha, she is her own pup and will grow in her own way. But somewhere in her will be my beautiful Kore and i just hope one day a glimpse of her will show through.

Rest in peace my baby the gap you have left will never be filled,

you were my world.

For the love of Kore

With eyes that could melt the Antarctic

And a heart that could love the world

Temperament as gentle as a butterfly

Movement as graceful as a gazelle

Her calmness was of a still sea at night

Her agility of a bird in flight

The love for her babies

Was above all else

Including her self

Silly girl;
